Come join in on our Métis kitchen party to learn, move, and have some fun! The Métis of Canada are guardians of a music and dance style that developed in the early days of contact between European and First Nations people. This session will feature award winning fiddler, Alicia Blore, who will share her expertise on the fiddle, and other traditional instruments. Alicia Blore will be accompanied by Megan Southwell, who will show us her fancy steps in a jigging tutorial.

Alicia Bloor - Métis Fiddler
Born and raised in Toronto, Alicia has never forgotten her Manitoba Métis roots – her great grandfather Phillip Zastre was a well-known Métis fiddler from Manitoba. Alicia is an award-winning Métis Fiddler and usually performs as Metis Strings with her brother Liam but, today Hawk Mason is joining Alicia on guitar.
Megan Southwell - Métis Jigger
Megan Southwell is a Métis jigger with historic Metis roots from Bootaagani-minis (Drummond Island) and Binidaangising (Penetanguishene). Megan is passionate about learning her culture and history and sharing it with others.
