Understanding Métis Culture and Wellness


Join us to discuss the Métis Way of life and well-being strategies that will build and support relationships with the land, culture and community to enhance our wellness journey.

  • Create a safe space for youth to learn about Métis Culture and Wellness

  • Exploring the different elements of nature and how we can connect with them holistically

  • Sharing circle-self-care practices, and how Métis culture is practiced in own lives

  • Harvesting medicines and food


Your host: Lynne Castonguay is a Métis Citizen originally from Iroquois Falls Ontario, who lives in Timmins on a homestead farm. She is a registered Clinical Social Worker who received her undergraduate training from the University of Ottawa and her graduate training from Wilfred Laurier in the Master of Social Work, Indigenous Field of Study Program. Finding balance between mainstream and traditional teachings gifted by Elders, teachers and re-searchers, she is a certified Addiction Counsellor with the Canadian Federation of Addiction Counsellors and a Certified EMDR Practitioner with EMDRIA. Therapist in private practice, Clinical Coach for staff in the helping field and program developer and advisor, Lynne’s work has centered on working with adults, and families dealing trauma leading to addiction and mental health issues. Specializing in crisis and trauma interventions particularly for those affected by colonization including residential school impacts, Lynne spends much of her time helping Métis Citizens and First Nation people through the province of Ontario. She helps develop programs needed to offer needed supports to bring people into well-being. She loves to fish on her kayak, take care of animals and sit by a campfire.
